This series consists of correspondence, telegrams, memorandums, notes, itineraries, clippings, transcripts, legal documents, subpoenas, handbooks, manuals, pamphlets, and photographs maintained by the Office of the General Counsel. Subjects covered include excess spending by congressional staff on world-wide inspection trips, international travel regulations, the civil action case of Grace E. Johnson vs. Time, Inc., Mary E. Holloway, the Senate Appropriations Committee, counterpart funds, executive privileges, Congressional privileges, and information the U.S. Information Agency (USIA) collected on Americans visiting U.S. Information Service (USIS) posts. Some of the correspondents include Congressmen, George V. Allen (the Director of USIA), Edward R. Murrow (Director of USIA), Public Affairs Offices, USIS staff, USIA's Office of the General Counsel, court staff, journalists, and lawyers.
